Private lessons and coaching for a fee count as economic activity — even if it's just a side gig next to your day job. Vadi tracks your lesson income and works out how much to pay the tax office (VID) and when — from €9/month.

Regular private lessons or training for a fee are economic activity — even alongside salaried work. Registration with the tax office (VID) is free, online via EDS.
Fewer lessons in summer? Social contributions (VSAOI) are due only for months in which income reaches the minimum wage (€780); in the others you pay 10% of the actual amount for pension insurance. Vadi tracks the thresholds for you.
If you have almost no expenses (teaching materials, an occasional room), MUN is often a good fit — 25% of turnover, no receipts. If you rent a hall and buy equipment, compare it with the general regime.
You run the lessons — Vadi does the tax maths in the background.

Hall or room rent, equipment, teaching materials, licences — snap a photo of the receipt and the fields fill in by themselves. Under the general regime it all lowers your tax.
The quarterly social-contribution (VSAOI) report and the annual income declaration (D3) — computed from your records, ready to file in EDS. The calendar reminds you of deadlines.

Vadi supports both regimes and shows the numbers for your exact case. Not sure which to pick? Compare in the calculator with your own figures.

Open the calculatorYes. Regular private lessons for a fee are economic activity that must be registered with the tax office (VID), even if your employer already pays taxes on your salary. Payroll taxes and self-employed taxes are two separate things — Vadi handles the self-employed side.
Under the general regime: social contributions (VSAOI) of 31.07% on a chosen base in months when income reaches the minimum wage (€780), plus 10% for pension insurance on the excess; if income is lower, only 10% of the actual amount. In the annual declaration, personal income tax (IIN) of 25.5% applies to profit after deducting paid VSAOI. The alternative is the micro-enterprise tax (MUN) of 25% of turnover.
That's exactly what the self-employed rules are built for: VSAOI is calculated month by month and quarter by quarter on actual income, so you don't pay the full rate in empty months. Vadi computes each quarter precisely and reminds you of the deadline.
For tutors with low expenses, MUN is often the simplest and perfectly adequate route. If you rent a hall, buy equipment or drive a lot, the general regime with expense deduction can work out cheaper. Compare both in our calculator.
From €9/month (incl. VAT) — income and expense tracking, VSAOI and income-tax calculations, the annual declaration and the tax calendar. The first 7 days are free and no card is required.
Vadi isn't only for tutors. The same system works for every self-employed person and company in Latvia.
